Gossip for the week of 31-Mar-2008
Claudia oftentimes introduces herself in conversation as a narrator or the Greek chorus. She doesn’t just talk with other characters, she has to review them, their past, their motivations, their inner soulful workings, and encapsulate everything in a neat, tidy sum for Chapter Epilogue. That needs to stop. Unless the writers are planning on making her a sexual abuse survivor and psychic.
The very best part of Claudia is when she’s with Johnny and Spinelli/Jason. Unintended, I think, is the humor threatening to burst into any room that Sarah Brown is in with Spinelli’s Bradford Anderson and Jason’s Steve Burton. One of the most delightfully wacky and surreal scenes happened last Thursday, March 27th, when Claudia visited Jason and nearly charmed the pants off Spinelli. Burton could barely contain his mirth as Anderson almost cackled hysterically out the door. They’re like the Three Stooges, a play within a soap, a dream within a nightmare. Then, Claudia is in Kate’s face and past Sonny with his daily ritual of calling her The Whore—as intended by the writers—and all bets are off.

I hesitated in saying this before, but … what the hell, right? Life’s too short. Greg Vaughan’s Lucky doesn’t seem to possess much of a sense of humor, never mind self-deprecating. His Lucky seems so uptight and almost unnecessarily obtuse around life of the party Spinelli. With every other character, Spinelli’s goofy sense of the absurd rubs off even a little. But not with Lucky, who remains stone-faced and treats Spinelli like a gang-banging terrorist. Loosen up, dude, and act opposite your screen partner. Take Sarah Brown’s (ex-Carly; Claudia) lead. Watch her, she’s the master.

Instead of taking care of their souls and turning their backs on further criminal activity, Jason, Sonny et al will seek vengeance upon the hit man who felled Michael instead of Sonny. They’ll be led to Jerry, but it isn’t Jerry, it’s Ian. Jerry would like nothing better than to lay Ian out to dry, except Ian’s got Jerry over a barrel, by menacing Alexis with damaging info on her. Both Ian and Claudia make the botched hit all about Jerry, to keep themselves looking innocent. Soon, everybody in town is ready to pitchfork Jerry, but Alexis who believes in him. –SoapDish

Claudia and Ian have no trouble running their illegal drugs through the town. They don’t even suffer any cringe to their conscience about wrongfully fingering Jerry and using him as their perennial pawn. Jerry, who’s really falling for Alexis, can’t do a damned thing to extricate himself from Claudia and Ian’s clutches. Ian lures Sam to the altar, but her heart’s pining for Lucky. Nikolas, Lulu, Logan and Johnny will also play major roles in this newest story. –Anonymous Insider, SoapDish
