We’ll just have to get to Jason before he gets to us
Claudia: [Clears throat]
[Phone rings]
Jerry: Why are you calling me?
Claudia: We have to meet.
Jerry: I have a busy afternoon.
Claudia: Look, if Ian gave us up to Jason, then he could be coming after both of us as soon as he gets released from custody.
Jerry: Meet me in the park in half an hour.
[Knock on door]
Claudia: Morning, Dad. How are you? Hope you’re feeling better today.
Anthony: I’m feeling better, but I’m counting the days till I can get out of this chair and walk wherever I want to without having to knock.
Claudia: Well, knocking is just a common courtesy.
Anthony: We don’t need etiquette. We’re family.
Claudia: Nobody ever barged in on me in Italy. They had more respect for my privacy.
Anthony: Oh, so you come back home with your nose in the air?
Claudia: I’m all grown up, Dad, in case you hadn’t noticed.
Anthony: I noticed. You’re still reckless, Claudia, and crazy enough to hire somebody to kill Sonny.
Claudia: Where did you get that idea?
Anthony: I watch and I listen. You wanted him dead, so you took matters into your own hands, which was a crucial mistake. Fortunately, you have your father to cover for you.
Claudia: I don’t need your help, Daddy. I didn’t have anything to do with the hit on Sonny’s life.
Anthony: You must hate that man’s guts for what he did to Johnny.
Claudia: The best way to keep that from happening again is to honor the truce. I mean, I talked Johnny into making that truce. And I know you’re a smart man and I hope that you’ll honor it because Sonny has a lot of powerful friends in this town.
Anthony: You mean he’s got a lot of power over you. Trevor told me you slept with Corinthos.
Claudia: Trevor should keep his big, fat mouth shut.
Anthony: He has his uses.
Claudia: He’s out for himself, and if you don’t see that –
Anthony: Trevor knows that Sonny is the enemy. I’m not sure you do.
Claudia: I hate him.
Anthony: You know what they say, Claudia? Love and hate are two sides of the same coin. I am not going to compromise my business so you can have access to any man, particularly Sonny Corinthos. He’s not right for you.
Claudia: Who would be right for me, Daddy?
Anthony: Well, I think you know.
Johnny: Vaughn’s looking for you, Dad. He’s got some question about security.
Anthony: We’ll finish this discussion later.
Johnny: Need some help?
Anthony: No, I can wheel myself, thank you, but you’re a good boy for asking.
Johnny: You okay?
Claudia: I hate him. A lot. It’s really hard for me sometimes to pretend like I don’t.
Johnny: Well, he’s going to bait you every chance he gets.
Claudia: It’s okay. He’s been pushing my buttons my whole life. Doesn’t matter. As long as you and I stick together, John, he won’t have any power over us.
Claudia: Does your girlfriend the D.A. have any new information about Ian’s death?
Jerry: Well, Alexis called me and asked me to meet her this afternoon. I was hoping she would extend an invitation for dinner. But it’s just as likely she will want to interrogate me.
Claudia: There’s not a shred of evidence linking us to Michael’s shooting.
Jerry: The problem is not the evidence, darling, it’s Jason Morgan.
Claudia: The newspapers said there were two witnesses on the scene, but they didn’t mention anything about Ian having accomplices.
Jerry: Well maybe, but according to my sources at the PCPD, Morgan was with Ian when he died. And those two witnesses, the police commissioner’s daughter and that oddball Spinelli, claim that they saw Ian say his final words to his killer.
Claudia: Any idea what he said?
Jerry: They were too far to hear.
Claudia: Well, maybe Ian was just too out of it to say anything.
Jerry: Maybe Ian told Jason that you and I were his accomplices. In which case Jason will tell nothing to the police, nor will he tell Corinthos. But it’s very likely he will kill us both in the most efficient way possible.
Claudia: Well, we’ll just have to get to Jason before he gets to us.
Jerry: I know his kind. The man is a highly proficient killer, as am I. He’s relentless. If he wants you dead, there’s no sure way to protect yourself aside from running. And that may be the only way to save your life, darling.
Claudia: What do you want?
Jason: I think you know who sent Michael’s shooter.
