I get that you’re angry, but it’s not my fault

Claudia: I’m usually pretty good at reading people, but you’re an enigma. Do you know what that means?

Jason: Yeah, I know.

Claudia: What, you read? Sorry, it’s just you don’t strike me as the sentimental type. Why would you save my life, let alone risk your own? What is it, exactly, that you think that I can do for you, Jason?

Claudia: So — you’re not going to answer my question?

Jason: What do you care why I saved your life as long as you’re alive?

Claudia: I’m just making conversation, you know? I’m trying to figure out what this whole thing’s going to cost me.

Jason: All right. This place seems relatively safe now.

Claudia: Any port in a storm, right?

Jason: That’s right. At least if the shooter tries to get in, we’re going to know.

Claudia: There could be more than one by now. I mean, barricading ourselves in here is giving this guy time to call for backup.

Jason: Maybe.

Claudia: Most likely.

Jason: You got a better plan?

Claudia: No, nothing.

Jason: No, nothing?

Claudia: No.

Jason: Then stay low to the ground and pay attention.

Claudia: You’ve got five bullets left. How do you honestly think you’re going to defend us with –

Jason: I guess I can’t miss, can I?

Claudia: What are the odds that you can hit this guy right between the eyes as he comes bursting through that door, possibly with backup?

Jason: No guarantees.

Claudia: I’m just wondering why he stopped firing. You think he’s out there right now setting up to break in here?

Jason: If it were me, I’d… I’d let the adrenaline wear off, and I’d let the targets believe that they’re safe and that I’m gone, and then I’d come in.

Claudia: So, basically, what you’re saying is if we sleep, we die.

Claudia: You have a gift for focus and non-verbal communication, by the way. You’re good. Anybody ever tell you that? See, like that. That is good. How do you do that?

Jason: You should try it.

Claudia: You don’t seem very surprised by all this. Do you come across a lot of fathers trying to kill their daughters, do you?

Jason: I still haven’t heard why you think it’s him.

Claudia: My dad wants to control Johnny, and he knows the only way he’s going to do that is by getting rid of me.

Claudia: It’s not like I ever remember my father expressing love for me. He never took me anywhere. He never brought me home something that he saw at a store and thought I might like. He thought I was smart. He liked that. I guess ’cause it was a good reflection on him, made him look good, but then, you know, Trevor made sure that my mom and dad got divorced.

Jason: What did Trevor have to do with it?

Claudia: My mom was smart, and she was strong. She was way too strong for that boy’s club, so Trevor wasn’t having it. Her worst mistake — she was interested in the business, so Trevor planted Maria in front of my father. Maria — that’s John’s mom. Maria was better suited, he thought, because all she gave a damn about was her stupid rose garden. My mother was banished. She was sent to live in Italy, broken, and, of course, Maria gave my father that much-wanted son, but you think I was jealous, right? I wasn’t. From the minute that Maria put Johnny into my arms, he was — I was gone. He was so perfect, so pure, you know? I swore the day that he was born that I would protect him no matter what. I’d die for him, but that’s more information than you ever wanted, right?

Jason: All I want to know is if your father had anything to do with Michael getting shot.

Jason: You said you had information on who shot Michael. That’s why I agreed to meet you.

Claudia: Well, I mean, I do. I mean, I think it was my father.

Jason: What do you mean, you think?

Claudia: I — I know how my father feels about John, and I know that, um, if Sonny — if my father took one of Sonny’s kids and locked him up in a padded cell –

Jason: You know what? I don’t want to — I don’t want to hear justifications at this point. I want to hear facts. Did Anthony send the shooter?

Claudia: Well, I mean, I didn’t actually, personally hear him give the order, but I know how my father feels about John, and I know that, you know, he would do anything –

Jason: So you were lying to me?

Claudia: No, I said that I had information.

Jason: You used a little boy who was shot in the head to jerk me around.

Claudia: Look, I get that you’re angry, but it’s not my fault.

Jason: Look, I could be there right now with Michael and his mother, but I’m here because of you getting shot at. Michael is in a hospital bed. He may never wake up. I am going to find whoever did this and make them sorry they ever heard Michael’s name.

Claudia: If anyone ever hurt John, I would hunt them down like a rabid dog, okay, but I don’t think that even if you found the person who’s responsible for shooting Michael and you took care of them, that that would take away your pain, Jason.
